(But we’re actually all about your story.)

We’ll help you get

JUSTICE

What’s our Mission?

To create spaces of justice-centered hospitality where low-income New Yorkers can access the necessities and connections they need to thrive.

What’s our Vision?

TO END THE HUNGER GAP IN EAST HARLEM AND THE UPPER EAST SIDE by connecting New Yorkers with the healthy food and social services they need, with the dignity they deserve.

Outcomes

HELPING 65,000 VULNERABLE NEW YORKERS EACH YEAR TO MOVE with dignity OUT OF HOMELESSNESS AND FOOD INSECURITY toward self-sufficiency.

There are many organizations that extend basic services to low-income New Yorkers, but the Urban Outreach Center strives in all that we do to be the premier location for the most vulnerable populations in New York City.

We believe our city and our neighborhoods thrive when we work collaboratively with low-income people, immigrants, and women – particularly women of color – to ensure access to material necessities for all, build supportive networks and relationships, and advocate for a more just, equitable, and inclusive New York City.

Since our founding in 1990, the UOCNYC continues to champion healthy food, clothing, hygiene essentials, and the breadth of social services necessary to support the full worth and dignity of all people.

DEI COmmitment

The Urban Outreach Center proactively works to improve our diversity, equity, and inclusion knowledge and abilities because doing so is critical to the success of our mission. As we continuously learn and grow, we apply these lenses to our work and to how we run our organization. As part of this effort, we utilize racial equity training in all facets of our planning and program design, and our whole staff meets quarterly to build our collective capacity and consciousness to embed equity into our work.

We are committed to racial equity as central to the culture and practices of the UOCNYC.
